Cuesta baseball team loses 4-2 to Saddleback
The Cuesta baseball team lost 4-2 to Saddleback on Thursday afternoon.
Saddleback took at 3-2 lead in the fifth inning when Jared Donahue hit a solo home run and after the Cougars gave up two more unearned runs in the inning.
Adam Gordon tacked on a home run of his own for the Gauchos in the eighth.
Cuesta’s Andrew Pifferini had a two-RBI double for his only hit of the game and the Cougars’ only runs.
Saddleback handed Cuesta starting pitcher Brendan Jenkins (2-1) his first loss of the year. Jenkins gave up thee runs, one earned run on four hits.
Each team had two errors, and Cuesta left eight men on base.
The Gauchos (6-0) and Cougars (4-2) will play again on Friday starting at 1:00 p.m.
