Cuesta women’s basketball shocks LA Pierce with last-second 3-pointer
The Cuesta women’s basketball team hit a three with one second remaining to beat LA Pierce 50-48 on Wednesday evening. With six seconds left, Autumn Russell kicked it out to Maci Bransetter who hit the three, her fifth of the game. Bransetter would finish with 15 points, all in the second half.
The Cougars had only six players available, and got off to a slow start, shooting 7-of-28 for the first half, and finished 19-for-48 for the game.
“I told them whoever gets the last run (will win the game),” coach Ron Barba said. “I’m really proud … they stayed with it.”
The Cougars (7-16, 2-6 Western State Conference) host Santa Barbara on Saturday.
