Cuesta College men’s basketball team rallies to beat L.A. Pierce

The Cuesta College men’s basketball team overcame a slow start and defeated L.A. Pierce 75-70 on Saturday in San Luis Obispo.

The Cougars (15-6, 2-0 Western State Conference) shot just 32 percent in the first half and trailed 36-30 at halftime.

However, powered by 10-of-32 shooting from 3-point range, the Cougars rallied for the win.

Roberto Mantovani put up a double-double for the Cougars, with 18 points and 18 rebounds. Karem Ozel added 17 points, and Evgeniy Moiseev had 14 points and 10 rebounds.

Shirley Montel had 29 points to lead L.A. Pierce (7-12, 0-2 WSC).

Cuesta travels to Santa Barbara City College for a 7 p.m. game on Wednesday.
