Cuesta College women’s basketball team loses third-place game at home tournament
The Cuesta College women’s basketball team fell 64-44 to Monterey Peninsula in the third-place game of the Phillips 66 Tournament on Saturday.
Boomie Pierre had 15 points and five rebounds, and San Luis Obispo High grad Biba Kirschner and Templeton High grad Autumn Russell each had seven points for the Cougars (7-4).
Cuesta scored four points in the first quarter.
The Cougars struggled from beyond the arc, shooting 1 of 22. Cuesta finished 18 of 65 from the field, good for 27.7 percent.
