The Cuesta College women’s basketball team went into the fourth quarter of their second game of the Phillips 66 Tournament looking like they would win again and stay on track for a fourth consecutive championship in the tournament they host.
But the Cougars went stone cold in the fourth quarter, turning a 47-40 lead after three into a 63-55 loss to College of the Desert on Friday night.
Cuesta’s tepid offensive night included shooting 31.3 percent from the floor — 1 for 9 on 3-pointers — and 26 turnovers.
Audrey Baeza led the Cougars (4-4) with 15 points, and San Luis Obispo High grad Biba Kirschner added 14 points, 13 rebounds and five steals.
