Cuesta men’s basketball team defeats El Camino College Compton Center 76-53
The Cuesta men’s basketball team moved on to the championship semifinals of the Citrus Tournament in Glendora by defeating El Camino College Compton Center 76-53.
Roberto Mantovani came off the bench to lead the Cougars (5-2) in scoring with 24 points and 12 rebounds. Karem Ozel added 19 points and five assists, and Rafail Eleftheriou scored 12 points, had seven assists and 12 rebounds.
The 15th-ranked Tartars (3-2) lead the state in scoring, averaging more than 90 points per game. Cuesta head coach Rusty Blair was pleased that the Cougars were able to hold their opponent to just 53 on Friday.
“It’s an extremely athletic team we played today,” Blair said.
Cuesta will play Victor Valley College on Saturday at 5 p.m. in the Citrus Tournament championship semifinals.
