Cuesta College volleyball team drops three-set match against Pierce

Ariel Machado recorded 10 assists and five digs to lead the Cuesta College volleyball team during a 25-17, 25-11, 25-18 loss to Pierce College in a Western State Conference match Wednesday afternoon at Cuesta.

Maren Cracknell chipped in five kills and Emily O’Brien finished with a team-high eight digs to lead the Cougars (7-17, 1-9) in their final home match of the regular season. Zaire Dartis led all players with 14 kills for Pierce, which leads the North Division of the conference standings at 25-1 overall and 10-1 against Western State Conference opponents.

Cuesta is scheduled to play its final two matches on the road beginning Friday against Allan Hancock in Santa Maria. The final regular season game is set for 6 p.m. next Wednesday against Moorpark.
