Cuesta women’s water polo team splits two games to take 15th at Long Beach tournament

The Cuesta women’s water polo team split a pair of games at the TruWest Tournament in Long Beach on Saturday.

The second and final day of the tournament concluded with 10-9 loss to Citrus College and a 11-10 win over Sierra College.

Arroyo Grande High graduate Rebekah Hernandez had four goals in the loss to Citrus and former Nipomo standout Sam Baker had 10 saves in goal.

Against Sierra, Emily Crane and Dacie Hughes each had three goals and Baker posted 11 saves.

Coach Pete Schuler says that the team was down to three regular starters after battling injuries this week. The Cougars (19-9) will hope to get healthy in time for Wednesday’s rematch against Citrus.
