The Cuesta College men’s water polo team won its own tournament Saturday, after posting a 6-0 record over two days.
The Cougars went 3-0 on Saturday after going 3-0 on Friday, beginning with a 12-4 win over Cabrillo. Cuesta followed with a 15-14 win in a penalty shootout with Orange Coast to advance to the championship game, where the Cougars topped Merced 18-9.
John Hartshorne scored 15 goals over three games — six of them coming against Orange Coast, and Gabe DeSimone notched eight goals. Michael Bull and Christian Emerson added six goals each, and Mick Ringgold added two goals.
Sal Arrendondo had 19 saves and Clint Doucette had 12 more for Cuesta (18-4, 1-1 Western State Conference).
