Cuesta Roundup: Cuesta women reach Allan Hancock tourney final

The Cuesta College women’s basketball team beat Santa Barbara 58-34 at the Allan Hancock Tournament on Friday night as the Cougars advanced to their fourth tournament final of the year.

The Cougars held Santa Barbara to just 11 points in the second half while 17 of its 34 points came off turnovers.

Felecia Cabral had a game-high 17 points and 12 rebounds, and Jerrica Crosby added 16 points and 10 rebounds for the Cougars (4-2).

Cuesta looks to win its second tournament of the year as it plays Foothill College today.

Cuesta at state championships

Connor Pollock, along with five other wrestlers from host Cuesta, advanced to the second round of the CCAA State Wrestling Championships.

The Cougars are in fourth place in the team standings after the first day.

Sophomores Pollock and Joe Else are still in the running for individual titles, while sophomores Jack Robinett, John Sinclair, Amir Bakhshi, and Jonny Callas dropped into the third-place bracket.

Sophomores George Sakkas, Justin Jauregui and freshman Clayton Hartwell were eliminated.
