Cuesta women's basketball team wins tourney opener

The Cuesta College women’s basketball secured a 59-54 victory over Lassen College at the Allen Hancock Tournament on Thursday.

The Cougars had four players in double figures, and held Lassen to 21 points in the second half.

Anika Rovig and Falecia Cabral had 13 points apiece, as Cuesta overcame a tough shooting night. The Cougars were 17 of 63 from the floor.

Cuesta forced 22 steals and 28 turnovers largely in part to a full-court press for much of the second half.
