The Cuesta College women’s soccer team lost in its Western State Conference opener 2-1 to Moorpark, which ended a three game winning streak for the Cougars. The Raiders had 23 shots on goals to the Cougars' eight, but only found the net twice.
Kelsey Escobar scored in the 35th minute assisted by Madison Murray to open the scoring for Moorpark.
In the second half, Cuesta evened the score at 1-1, when Rori Stout sent a cross along the front of the goal, which was passed by Brynne Guzman to Gillian Stargensky, who scored with 11 minutes left to play.
The Raiders answered four minutes later after a failed clearance on a corner led to a goal by Eva Madarang.
