Cuesta College finishes third at wrestling tournament

Three wrestlers finished in third place, and the Cuesta College wrestling team took third overall at the KLS Air Express Invitational Tournament on Saturday at Sacramento City College.

Luis Quintero took third at 157 pounds, Will Thornton was third at 197 and heavyweight Robert Barrios also finished third for the Cougars, who scored 59 points.

Fresno City College won the tournament with 146 points, and Sacramento City College was second with 137.

Modan Goldman (141) and Grant Birao (174) finished fourth, and Ross Arve (133), Chris Gaetni (149) and Nick Callendar all took fifth.

“It’s a tough tournament” coach Joe Dansby said. “We feel pretty good about our finish.”
