Cuesta College splits two games in women's water polo tournament

The Cuesta College women’s water polo team split two games Friday at the Owl Classic in Los Altos, losing to Diablo Valley College 14-2 and beating West Valley College 20-6.

In the loss to Diablo Valley, Arroyo Grande High grads Isabella Manuele and Rebeka Hernandez scored a goal each for the Cougars. Sam Baker, a Nipomo grad, made 11 saves in goal. The Cougars went 0-for-10 on the power play.

In the win, Manuele, Paso Robles grad Jessica Reeves and Tarah Salazar scored three goals apiece for Cuesta (7-1). The Cougars jumped out to a 9-0 lead after the first quarter in the rout.

The tournament continues Saturday.
