Cuesta picks up 300th program victory in women's water polo

The Cuesta College women's water polo team opened Western State Conference play Wednesday and cruised to two wins, picking up its 299th and 300th program victories in the process.

A pair of Arroyo Grande High graduates led the way for the Cougars in a 12-6 win over Santa Monica in the first leg of the doubleheader. Isabella Manuele had four goals, and Rebekah Hernandez added three more. Goalie Hannah Brumley had five saves.

In the second match, Cuesta defeated Pierce 23-9. Morro Bay graduate Katie White led the Cougars with five goals, and Hernandez added four more goals. Second-string goalie Sam Baker made five saves to move the Cougars to 6-0 on the season.

Cuesta will travel to Los Altos on Friday and Saturday to take part in the Owl Classic Tournament.
