Cuesta women's water polo team finishes 4-0 at its own tourney

The Cuesta College women’s water polo team remained undefeated after beating Sierra 13-12 and West Valley 22-10 on Saturday in its own Central Coast Classic.

The Cougars (4-0) escaped Sierra after giving up a 5-2 lead. Arroyo Grande High graduate Rebekah Hernandez scored the game-winner with 3:23 to play and finished with five goals.

Against West Valley, Cuesta opened the game on an 8-0 run. A dozen different players scored for the Cougars, led by Templeton graduate Megan Miller with four goals.

State finalist Diablo Valley also went 4-0 in the round-robin tournament

Cuesta plays a split doubleheader Wednesday against Santa Monica at 3 p.m. and Pierce at 5:30 p.m. as Western State Conference play opens.
