Cuesta women's water polo opens 2-0 at its tournament
The Cuesta College women’s water polo team earned two victories at its Central Coast Tournament on Friday.
The Cougars (2-0) won their first game against Merced 19-14, behind Arroyo Grande High graduate Isabella Manuele, who had five goals. Jessica Reeves, a Paso Robles graduate, and Katie White, a Morro Bay graduate each had four goals.
In the second game, the Cougars jumped out to a 4-1 lead over Fresno in the first quarter. The Rams came back strong in the second quarter, tying the score at 6 at the half.
The Cougars pulled away in the final quarter, outscoring the Rams 4-1.
Emily Crane and Daci Hughes each had three goals ,and Manuele had two.
Cuesta will play Sierra at 11:15 a.m. and West Valley at 4:40 p.m. on Saturday.
