Cal Poly football standout Marcus Paige-Allen suspended for team rules violation
The Cal Poly football team will be without sixth-year senior defensive lineman Marcus Paige-Allen when the season begins Friday night against Nevada at Mackay Stadium.
Head coach Tim Walsh confirmed Monday that Paige-Allen has been suspended for a violation of team rules, leaving an already thin defensive line without one of its most experience players.
Twice Paige-Allen has received all-Big Sky Conference recognition. The Sacramento native started 23 consecutive games at nose tackle the past two seasons.
“He won’t play probably for the first three weeks,” Walsh said. “As much as I want to, sometimes tough lessons are best lessons. He’s going to learn a lesson the hard way.
“He has eight left, we’ll get him back for the Big Sky Conference and we’ll go from there.”
Paige-Allen, the nephew of former NFL standout Larry Allen, recorded 25 tackles last fall and earned a share of Cal Poly’s most valuable defensive lineman award.
Junior Augustino Elisaia will start at nose tackle against the Wolf Pack.
