Cal Poly baseball team finishes off sweep of San Francisco
The Cal Poly baseball team finished off a sweep of San Francisco with a 7-6 win Sunday at Baggett Stadium.
The Mustangs had a 6-3 lead in the sixth inning after Brett Barbier hit an RBI single, and John Schuknecht hit a two-run homer.
Cal Poly led 7-4 heading into the ninth, then held off a Dons (2-11) rally for the win.
With the victory, the Mustangs closed out a 10-2 homestand to start the season.
Schuknecht was 2 for 5 with the homer, two RBI and two runs. Barbier was also 2 for 5 with an RBI and a run. Cooper Moore was 1 for 3 with two RBI.
Erich Uelmen allowed three runs on six hits in five innings. Thomas Triantos earned the win in relief, and Justin Calomeni got the save.
San Francisco outhit Cal Poly 14-10, led by Allen Smoot, who was 3 for 3 with an RBI, and Blake Valley, who was 3 for 5 with two RBI.
