Cal Poly softball team finishes off 5-0 weekend by beating Pacific
The Cal Poly softball team defeated Pacific 3-1 on Sunday in Stockton, completing a 5-0 weekend at the Libby Matson Tournament.
Sierra Hyland (7-2) struck out 10 in a complete-game victory, increasing her nation-leading total to 104. She allowed six hits and a run while walking one.
Ashley Torino’s two-run double in the top of the seventh inning broke a 1-1 tie. Stephanie Heyward had an RBI single in the third inning for Cal Poly (11-4), which has won six in a row.
Nicole Zapotoczny hit a solo home run for Pacific (7-8).
Cal Poly hosts the Mustang Classic at Bob Janssen Field beginning Friday against Weber State and Toledo.
