Cal Poly women’s golf places 8th at Gold Rush in Seal Beach
The Cal Poly women’s golf team finished eighth out of 15 teams Tuesday at the Gold Rush, a tournament hosted by Long Beach State at the Old Ranch Country Club in Seal Beach.
The Mustangs finished the final round with a score of 306 on the 6,097-yard, par-72 course. Cal Poly carded scores of 303 and 305 on Monday and posted a 50-over-par 914 aggregate.
Jamie Binns was Cal Poly’s top individual finisher; she recorded a final-round 75 for a 226 score and a tie for 23rd place. Jamie Harada finished with a 227 total and tied for 26th.
Other Cal Poly performances included: Madison Hirsch in 33rd place, and Desiree Gillaspy and Lucy Robson for 58th place.
USC, the only school to finish under par, scored a one-under 863 total. Fresno State was 18 strokes behind, and Long Beach State finished another nine strokes back.
The Mustangs are scheduled to play in the Bruin-Wave Invitational at the San Luis Obispo Country Club on Monday and Tuesday.
