Cal Poly men’s basketball team stops losing streak with win at UC Riverside

The Cal Poly men’s basketball team stopped its five-game losing streak, beating UC Riverside 86-78 on Saturday night in Riverside.

David Nwaba scored 21 points and had six rebounds to lead the Mustangs (9-15, 3-8 Big West). Resse Morgan added 17 points and six steals. Ridge Shipley had 12 points, and Jaylen Shead added 11 points and a team-high five assists.

The Mustangs shot 45 percent from 3-point range and outrebounded the Highlanders 31-30.

Taylor Johns had 25 points for the Highlanders (13-14, 4-7).

UC Riverside’s Jaylen Bland, second in the nation with 97 3-pointers, shot just 1 for 8 from long range and finished with five points.
