Cal Poly women’s basketball team can’t hand UC Riverside its first Big West loss
On Saturday, the Cal Poly women’s basketball team fell 75-62 to UC Riverside, which remains undefeated in Big West Conference play.
Beth Balbierz scored 20 points and Lynn Leaupepe posted 12 points and 10 rebounds for the Mustangs.
The Mustangs led 36-33 at halftime before UC Irvine outscored them 42-26 in the second half.
UC Riverside (17-7, 10-0) shot 52 percent from the floor and was led by Brittany Crane, who scored 26 points and had eight rebounds. Simone Decoud had another 24 points for the Highlanders.
The Mustangs fall to 11-13 and 4-7 in conference play and play at Cal State Fullerton on Thursday.
