Cal Poly men’s basketball team loses at UC Davis
In a season that seems to be rapidly slipping away, the Cal Poly men’s basketball team lost its second Big West Conference game in a row, falling 66-52 at UC Davis on Saturday night in a game in which the Mustangs never led.
The Mustangs have games against the top two teams in the conference looming next week.
David Nwaba scored 15 points and six rebounds, and Brian Bennett added 10 points for Cal Poly (8-12, 2-5 Big West), which shot 43. percent from the field. The Mustangs did not score over the final four minutes of the game, going 0 for 7 during that span.
Neal Monson scored 20 points to lead UC Davis (9-11, 4-3 Big West), which only turned the ball over six times in the win. Josh Fox added 18 points and 10 rebounds.
The Mustangs host conference leaders UC Irvine (17-5, 6-0 Big West) on Wednesday at 7 p.m., then host Hawaii (16-2, 5-0 Big West) on Saturday at 7 p.m.
