Cal Poly women’s basketball team loses at Long Beach State
The Cal Poly women’s basketball team was unable to hang on to a fourth-quarter lead against Long Beach State, losing 65-53 on Saturday in Long Beach.
A five-point fourth quarter sunk the Mustangs hopes.
Dynn Leaupepe led all scores with 19 points and eight rebounds, and Hannah Gilbert added 16 points and six rebounds. The Mustangs had 28 turnovers to Long Beach State’s 18.
Madison Montgomery led Long Beach State (16-5, 5-2 Big West Conference) with 18 points and five rebounds.
The Mustangs (10-10, 3-4) outscored Long Beach 23-9 in the second quarter, before scoring 11 points in the third and five points in the fourth.
Cal Poly hosts Hawaii at 7 p.m. on Thursday.
