Cal Poly women’s basketball team’s rally comes up short in loss to UC Riverside
The Cal Poly women’s basketball team rallied from an 18-point first-half deficit to twice cut the lead to one before losing to UC Riverside 93-83 on Thursday night in Riverside.
Dynn Leaupepe scored 25 points — a season high — on 11-of-19 shooting from the field. Beth Balbierz and Hannah Gilbert had 12 points each for Cal Poly (10-9, 3-3 Big West Conference). Gilbert also had 13 rebounds, her conference-leading seventh double-double of the season.
Lynn Leaupepe and Amanda Lovely scored 10 points apiece for the Mustangs.
Brittany Crain had 27 points to lead UC Riverside (16-7, 6-0 Big West).
The Mustangs travel to Long Beach State for a 4 p.m. game Saturday.
