Hannah Gilbert scored 23 points and pulled down 17 rebounds as the Cal Poly women’s basketball team defeated Sacramento State 97-72 Tuesday night at Motts Athletic Center.

Dynn Leaupepe came off the bench to add a double-double of her own — 23 points and 10 rebounds — as the Mustangs (7-6) dominated the visiting Hornets (3-8).

Beth Balbierz (12 points) and Lynn Leaupepe (15 points, nine rebounds) also contributed to Cal Poly’s 25-point margin of victory.

Cal Poly shot nearly 52 percent from the field and outrebounded Sacramento State 74-48.

The Mustangs made three of nine 3-point attempts; the Hornets tossed up 60 shots from beyond the arc, hitting just nine.

Cal Poly plays at UC Santa Barbara on Jan. 7.
