Cal Poly’s Speak qualifies for Olympic swimming trials
Cal Poly women’s swimmer Sage Speak qualified for the Olympic trials, winning her 100 breaststroke heat in 1:11.48 and placing 35th overall Friday at the AT&T Winter National Championships.
Speak becomes only the second swimmer in program history to qualify for the trials, joining Jimmy Deiparine.
Nolan Newland was 46th overall in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:53.13.
Cal Poly wraps up the event on Saturday.
