Van Winden leads four on All-Big West Conference volleyball team for Cal Poly
Cal Poly outside hitter Adlee Van Winden was named the Big West Conference Freshman of the Year, leading four Mustangs named to the first team, the school announced Monday.
Van Winden led Cal Poly with 391 kills and a 3.91 kill per set average this season, both good for fourth best in the conference. Van Winden set a conference record by earning Freshman of the Week honors seven times.
Taylor Greuenwald, Taylor Nelson and Raeann Greisen also made the all-conference first team, the first time the Mustangs put four players on the team since 2007.
Gruenewald was third on the Mustangs with 195 kills this season, and led the team with 74 blocks.
Nelson had 17 assist-dig double-doubles this season and had 1,052 assists, leading the team in both categories. She’s the first Cal Poly player to have 1,000 or more assists since Sarah Cawrse in 2010.
Greisen had 321 kills, becoming the first Mustang to have back-to-back 300-kill seasons since Jennifer Keddy and Kristina Graven did it in 2010-11.
