Cal Poly wrestling team loses to Old Dominion

J.T. Goodwin remained unbeaten, but the Cal Poly wrestling team lost to Old Dominion, 28-9, in a nonconference meet Sunday at Gilroy.

Goodwin (8-0) won his bout at 197 pounds, beating Austin Coburn in a 3-2 decision.

Colt Shorts won a 9-4 decision over Austin Eads at 157 pounds, and Spencer Empey won 4-1 over John D’Augostino at 285 pounds for the Mustangs’ other two wins.

Cal Poly fell to 1-3.

Old Dominion (2-1) won the first four bouts of the match.

The Mustangs will compete in the Las Vegas Invitational on Dec. 4-5.
