Cal Poly volleyball outlasts UC Irvine in five sets
The Cal Poly volleyball team beat UC Irvine 3-2 in a marathon volleyball match at Mott Athletics Center on Friday.
Adlee Van Winden had a career-high 22 kills and Taylor Nelson had a career-high 61 assists in the 19-25, 25-19, 25-22, 22-25, 15-10 victory for the Mustangs (17-5, 9-2 Big West Conference).
The 17-5 record is the best the Mustangs have had at this point in the season since 2006.
Savannah Niemen had 16 kills for Cal Poly, and Nelson added 17 digs.
Harlee Kekauoha had 18 kills for UC Irvine (11-13, 5-7 Big West).
Cal Poly hosts UC Davis on Saturday at Mott Athletics Center, beginning at 4 p.m.
