Cal Poly women’s soccer team loses at home to UC Riverside

The Cal Poly women’s soccer team gave up a quick goal in the first half and lost 2-0 to UC Riverside at Alex G. Spanos Stadium on Sunday.

Brittany Mata scored in the ninth minute for the Highlanders (10-8-0, 4-3-0 Big West Conference), and Tyler Cunningham added a second-half goal.

Alyssa Giannetti made two saves for Cal Poly (6-7-5, 2-5-0 Big West), which outshot UC Riverside 12-9.

The Mustangs close the season by hosting Cal State Fullerton on Sunday at 2 p.m.
