Santiago leads Bulgarian basketball team to championship
Former Cal Poly standout Kristina Santiago led Dunav 8806 to 77-49 win over Neftochimic, clinching the Bulgarian NBL championship series 3-1 on Tuesday.
She had 19 points and 11 rebounds in the win as Santiago’s team captured its second consecutive league title.
Santiago was tops in the NBL, scoring 21.6 points per game to lead Dunav to a 19-5 record and a second-place finish in the league standings.
Named the series MVP, Santiago averaged 23.5 points and 14.3 rebounds per game, including a 30-point effort in game one.
