Cal Poly’s Peyton Bilo set for NCAA Cross Country Championships
Cal Poly sophomore runner Peyton Bilo will toe the line Saturday morning at the NCAA Cross Country Championships, hosted by Indiana State at the LaVern Gibson Championship Course in Terre Haute.
It will be Bilo’s second consecutive trip to the national championship race, having earned an at-large bid following her ninth-place finish at the NCAA West Region meet last week in Sacramento.
As a freshman last season, Bilo finished 172nd overall and was 24th among the 49 freshmen competing. She parlayed that success into a strong spring in track and field, where she won the Big West Conference title in the 10,000 meters.
Bilo won the Big West cross country title last month — one of three individual victories this fall — and was chosen as the Big West Athlete of the Year.
This will be the 17th time since 1995 that Cal Poly has been represented at the NCAA Championships.
Bilo’s race is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. and a live webcast will be available at NCAA.com.
