Cal Poly volleyball sweeps UC Riverside for third straight win

The Cal Poly volleyball team picked up its third straight win after sweeping UC Riverside 3-0 at home Friday night.

The 25-20, 25-21, 25-18 win improves the Mustangs’ record to 16-8 overall and 9-4 in Big West Conference play.

Sophomore Adlee Van Winden was the only Mustang to boast double-digit kills with 17 (.302 attack percentage). Senior Taylor Gruenewald had eight (.500), and Raeann Greisen had seven (.182).

Reining Cal Poly Student Athlete of the Week Taylor Nelson had 33 assists, two blocks and one kill.

Big West Defensive Player of the Week, Katherine Brouker, led the team in digs with 17 of the team’s 50.

Gruenewald led the team in blocks with four, contributing to the team’s total of five.

The Mustangs had a .295 attack percentage compared to the Highlander’s .202.

This is the Mustang’s second sweep of the season over UC Riverside and their fifth sweep in conference play. Cal Poly will be back on its home court Saturday to take on Cal State Fullerton in Mott Athletics Center.
