Prep girls basketball: Arroyo Grande, Mission Prep wins set up exciting final week
The San Luis Obispo girls basketball team beat Atascadero 45-41 on Friday, behind 12 points from Stephanie Brenner. Cammi Storlie and Lily Svetich added seven points for the Tigers (11-12, 4-8 PAC 8), who rallied after a six point first quarter to take the lead at the half 20-15.
Sally Bowles had 12 points and Aryana Gonzales had nine for the Greyhounds (6-16, 3-9).
The Tigers play at St. Jospeh on Wednesday.
Mission Prep 43, Paso Robles 35
Emily Lucier scored 13 points and Noelle Laird added 10 points and 10 rebounds for the Royals (15-8, 9-3 PAC 8). I’raya Smith recorded eight points in her second game back from injury.
Kim Buchanan had the high for the Bearcats (5-7 PAC 8), posting 15 points and Grace Rosa added nine.
Mission Prep currently sits in third place, one game behind Arroyo Grande.
Arroyo Grande 42, Pioneer Valley 19
Kinsey McBryde had 18 points and Ashlyn Herlihy added 14 for the Eagles. Arroyo Grande (16-7, 10-2 PAC 8) trail only Righetti (11-1) in the PAC 8 standings.
Coast Union 42, Maricopa 20
Emily McAvoy scored eight points, had seven rebounds and two blocks to lead the Broncos. Rima Panchal had seven points, two steals and two assists and Bobbi Gonzales had six points and two steals for Coast Union (9-5, 9-2 Coast Valley League), who host Coastal Christian on Tuesday.
