Deonte Williams rushed for 188 yards and three touchdowns, and Cal Poly's football team held off a fourth-quarter rally by UC Davis for a 28-20 victory tonight at Alex G. Spanos Stadium in the first-ever Big Sky Conference game for both teams.
Williams scored his first touchdown in the second quarter and the other two in the third. The last, a 7-yard run, gave Cal Poly (3-0) a 28-10 lead with 5:13 left in the third.
UC Davis scored the first 10 points of the game before the Mustangs ran off 28 straight to defeat the Aggies for the first time under fourth-year head coach Tim Walsh.
UC Davis (1-3) got within striking distance in the fourth quarter, scoring on a 2-yard run by Courtney Williams with 10:10 left and a 41-yard field goal by Brady Stuart with 5:45 left.
