Paul Pierce Names the Toughest NBA Opponent he Ever Faced

Paul Pierce played 19 NBA seasons, securing 10 All-Star selections and leading the Boston Celtics to an NBA title in 2008.

Over his nearly two decades in the league, Pierce played against some all-time great NBA competition. However, one player stands above the rest as the “toughest” individual opponent he’s ever gone against.

During the most recent episode of the “No Fouls Given” podcast, Pierce bestowed that honor upon LeBron James.

“Bron has always been tough,” Pierce said. "When you have to play him in multiple playoff series, like multiple, it's hard to get sleep. And it's my matchup like, you know, all I think about is like, well, I'm going to have to fight through about 100 pick and rolls tonight. So your body after that one game, you know, you got to do this probably like four or five more times. It can mentally drain you if you're not mentally prepared."

Pierce also name dropped Carmelo Anthony, Kobe Bryant and Allen Iverson, but ultimately gave the nod to James because of how many times they faced off against each other.

James is entering his 24th NBA season as a free agent, ending his eight-year stint with the Los Angeles Lakers. The Cleveland Cavaliers, Miami Heat, Golden State Warriors, Philadelphia 76ers and Minnesota Timberwolves have all been mentioned as possible landing spots for The King.
