Pat McAfee Shares Encouraging Injury Update on Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes
Patrick Mahomes‘ 2025 NFL season came to a crashing halt with an ACL tear in Week 15.
The Kansas City Chiefs missed the playoffs for the first time since 2014 after finishing the regular season with a 6-11 record - losing each of their final six games to close out the year.
The Chiefs are hopeful that Mahomes can be ready for the team’s regular-season opener against the Denver Broncos on Sept. 14, but the superstar quarterback’s Week 1 status is still uncertain.
However, ESPN NFL insider Pat McAfee shared an encouraging update regarding Mahomes’ health on Monday.
McAfee and Mahomes both attended the wedding Kansas City tight end Travis Kelce and international music superstar Taylor Swift. And according to McAfee, Mahomes was getting active on the dance floor at Madison Square Garden.
"I know he was injured last year. I don't wanna give away too much stuff breaking from the wedding, Patrick Mahomes was in the middle of the dance floor,” McAfee said.
The Chiefs’ Week 1 matchup against the Broncos will take place under the lights in a primetime contest at Kansas City’s Arrowhead Stadium. If Mahomes is for some reason unable to take the field in the “Monday Night Football” matchup, backup QB Justin Fields will likely get the start for the Chiefs.
