Lamar Jackson Has Unprecedented Fall In NFL Top 100 Players Ranking

Lamar Jackson is still one of the best quarterbacks in the National Football League, but how he's viewed by his fellow NFL athletes has changed quite a bit.

The NFL is releasing its Top 100 players rankings, as voted on by players across the league, in the leadup to the 2026 regular season.

Jackson's spot was revealed this week. The Baltimore Ravens MVP quarterback comes in at No. 69. It's 67 spots lower than where he was ranked last season, when he came at No. 2 overall.

That's an unprecedented drop for a player who is healthy and in his prime.

The NFL released Jackson's official spot on Monday, much to the surprise of players and fans around the league.

How the voting process works for NFL Top 100

The voting process is "flawed," which could have led to Jackson's severe drop.

"So how did it happen? As the voting process was explained at some point during the years NFLN has conducted the top-100 voting, an unspecified number of players are asked to list their top 20 NFL players. Points are assigned, 20 down to one, based on where a player lands. If a player, no matter how objectively good he is, is having an off year, he'll slip farther than he should - because the players who are currently playing at a high level when a given ballot is constructed will end up in higher spots on more ballots," NBC NFL insider Mike Florio shared.

"Really, it's not on the players. The process is flawed. As evidenced by the fact that Lamar Jackson fell 67 spots to No. 69."

Still, flawed process or not, it's pretty stunning to see.

Jackson will look to prove his fellow players wrong in 2026.
