The Most Expensive Group Stage World Cup Ticket Might Shock You

The World Cup starts in three weeks, and the ticket prices for the games across North America are fluctuating.

While there’s a chance that, if you live in Houston, FIFA might pay you to go watch Cape Verde against Saudi Arabia in the group stage, other games are skyrocketing in demand.

With that being said, if I asked you what the most expensive group stage ticket was for the World Cup, the answer would be simple, right?

It would have to be one of the opening games, be it in Mexico, Canada, or the United States.

And although that would make sense, the most expensive game of the group stage doesn’t consist of any of the three home World Cup teams.

Maybe the defending champions, Argentina, with Lionel Messi?

Spain with Lamine Yamal?

England?

Nope.

The most expensive ticket, per SeatGeek, for the group stage as it stands now will occur on June 27th in Miami, Florida, at Hard Rock Stadium, when Portugal takes on Colombia.

The United States’ opening game against Paraguay has a get-in price of $940. Canada, facing off with Bosnia-Herzegovina, is at $894. Mexico stands tall amongst the hosts, with a $1,903 get-in price for the true opening game of the tournament against South Africa.

Portugal and Colombia playing in Florida, though, blows all of those out of the water, with the cheapest ticket currently going for $2,731 on SeatGeek.

The proximity of Colombian fans to Miami, along with Portugal having Cristiano Ronaldo in his last World Cup, is the recipe for pandemonium.
