NFL Fans Already 'Annoyed' With Week 17 Schedule Plans
The NFL announced on Monday that two more games have been awarded to NBC for Week 17 of the 2026 regular season. However, the two games will not both be airing live on NBC. Instead, one of them will be airing exclusively on Peacock.
That's right, a Week 17 NFL regular season game will be Peacock-only viewing for fans across the league. As the NFL continues to give out more and more games to streaming platforms, the league is doubling down as we head into 2026.
The full schedule:
- Sat., Jan. 2, 2027 (4:30pm ET) – NFL Holiday Special (NBC, Peacock)
- Sat., Jan. 2, 2027 (8pm ET) – Peacock NFL Exclusive
- Sun., Jan. 3, 2027 (8:20pm ET) – Sunday Night Football (NBC, Peacock)
"We're excited to work with our partners at the NFL to acquire an additional game for NBCUniversal platforms at a crucial point on the schedule," said Rick Cordella, President, NBC Sports. "With three NFL games in exclusive national windows on the season's penultimate weekend, we continue to deliver for our owned-stations, affiliates and partners."
The Week 17 Peacock game matchup has not been set. However, it's likely to feature a marquee opponent. Think the Chiefs or the Cowboys or the Eagles.
NFL fans, though, continue to be fed up with the streaming platforms. How many different apps and subscriptions do you need to watch NFL football in 2026?
The answer: A bunch.
NFL fans annoyed with Week 17 schedule plans
NFL fans are fed up with the amount of channels and streaming sites needed to watch football games.
"I'm so annoyed with this," one fan wrote.
"Week 17 Saturday football sounds great… until you realize one game is Peacock exclusive," one fan added.
"Good for them. I didn't pay for the Peacock exclusives last year, I won't be paying this year. Tired of having to keep getting more subscriptions," one fan added.
"Watered down. The Next NBA. People only care about the offseason. The season itself kind of stinks," one fan added.
"Ugh Peacock? The NFL really wants more money," one shared.
"Put the games on one single platform. We're tired of searching high and low to find where games are. Money grubbing league. We as the consumers are letting the NFL off the hook but keep playing and nobody going to be watching if we have to pay thousands just to watch a game," another fan wrote.
The NFL understands that fans can be annoyed, though, but they don't seem to care.
