Dodgers’ Justin Turner accepts ‘whipped cream challenge’ to benefit 17Strong Foundation
Los Angeles Dodgers third baseman Justin Turner again showed support for the Arroyo Grande-based 17Strong Foundation this week.
The foundation honoring Arroyo Grande native Ryan Teixeira, who died March 4 at 20 years old, created the “whipped cream challenge” to raise awareness — and it has since gone viral on social media.
Turner — who visited the late Teixiera at the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center in December when the former Arroyo Grande High baseball standout was battling cancer — posted a video of himself completing the challenge on his Twitter account Tuesday.
“All right, we’re here: We’re accepting A.J. Ellis and Christian Yelich’s whipped cream challenge to benefit 17Strong and support young adults and their victory trips,” Turner says in the video.
He then nominated Dodgers’ manager Dave Roberts, Los Angeles first baseman Adrian Gonzalez and retired Major League pitcher Orel Hershiser to complete the challenge.
