Air quality causing health problems after fires around SLO County

Finally something on the air quality (“Wildfires causing unhealthy air in northern San Luis Obispo County,” Aug. 25)!

On a recent weekend, I succumbed to an allergy to the smoke in Cambria/Cayucos and have been suffering all week from plugged ear, headache, heavy sinus and chest.

In the middle of the week, I did a search for “air quality fire” and was shocked to see it pronounced “good” on the websites covering the county.

Since the Sobranes Fire started in July and the Chimney Fire in August, what took the air district so long to put out monitoring stations?

Normally very healthy, I thought my plight must be an anomaly, but I am hearing about others suffering, too.

Becky Adams, Cayucos
