In his article (“A well-meaning Colin Kaepernick starts a conversation that, sadly, seems headed nowhere,” Aug. 31), which appeared in The Tribune, Los Angeles Times columnist Dylan Hernandez did not mention an important fact about Colin Kaepernick’s adopted parents.

He may not have been aware that Kaepernick’s adopted parents, who raised him, were ardent supporters of, among other things, civil rights.

This may be Kaepernick’s last opportunity to speak out with name recognition as a star.

Colin, for older adults, you set a good example: It is never too late to speak out.

You will always be our hero, no matter what the final score!
