Colin Kaepernick’s goal is ambitious, but not honoring the national anthem is a disgrace. Yes, his goal in ambitious — and also unattainable. There will always be have and have nots, oppressed, etc. That is the real world.

He made his point this one time, but if he is going to continue, I say the 49ers should either dump him or talk sense into him. Get rid of “political correctness” — it interferes with doing what is right. Athletes are role models for many and should keep that in mind at all times; too often their misbehavior takes its toll. There have to be other ways for Kaepernick to get his message across; not standing during the playing of our national anthem is not the right way.

The Tribune’s headline “Kaepernick’s mediocre performance against Packers seals fate with 49ers” (Aug. 28) leads me to think the 49ers should just let him spend full time on ending oppression. Good luck to the new Don Quixote.
