SLO mayoral candidate Heidi Harmon will speak up for citizens
When Heidi Harmon announced her candidacy for mayor of San Luis Obispo on Dave Congalton’s radio show, locals called in to ask questions about issues ranging from the city’s implementation of the mandatory rental housing inspection program to the shaping of downtown. Heidi expressed her gratitude for the outpouring of support. She said it has become clear to her that many residents feel they haven’t been heard by the current city leaders, and her goal is to represent the voices of the citizens.
The enthusiasm was palpable as one caller exuberantly proclaimed his support despite their differences along party lines. This is not a race about political parties or affiliations, but focuses on giving power back to the citizens of SLO.
Heidi wants to inspire people to participate in the process: “San Luis Obispo is really at a crossroads, and we as a community need to decide what we want the city to be.”
Her focus will be on key issues, including housing availability, affordability and development; preserving the charm of downtown; open spaces; transportation and water.
As a citizen who has become increasingly frustrated with the current leadership, I am pleased that Heidi has entered the race. For information, visit HeidiHarmon.org.
