Why didn’t Donald Trump try ‘extreme vetting’ on Paul Manafort?

Since Donald Trump promises “extreme vetting” of Muslim immigrants, I am left asking, given the recent revelations of Trump’s campaign manager, Paul Manafort, who is vetting Trump’s campaign? The fact that Manafort had such close ties with Ukraine’s exiled communist president, to the tune of $12 million (unreported income), and that his offices remain open to serve the Communists (as of May 2016) should be of grave concern, since Trump now receives regular security and national briefings as a potential president of the United States.

Beyond the seriousness of these facts, at age 78, I cannot miss how rich in irony these facts are, since I still remember that Republicans once enjoyed repeating, “better dead than red,” referring to communist loyalty.
