Improvements to Mission Plaza could be dangerous

I am interested in improvements to the Mission Plaza to make it feel safer and more accessible, but please, why intentionally mix cars with people?

When I read that both Concept A and Concept B are considering a scramble crossing at Monterey and Chorro, I was shocked.

That intersection is at the bottom of the hill from Palm Street and is no place for a casual crossing for pedestrians — while we just hope that cars will give people the right of way.

The word scramble says it all, as children and their parents will be scrambling to safety.

Also, why the woonerf at Broad and Monterey? Another intentional mix of cars and people.

I think blocking those roads completely to cars would make the whole area around the San Luis Obispo Museum of Art, the San Luis Obispo Children’s Museum and the Mission San Luis Obispo de Tolosa more inviting.

Cars can go around, and then people can feel and be safe.
