Caren Ray: ‘The reason I’m running’ for Arroyo Grande City Council

Lately, politics have only been dividing us. This animosity causes people to disengage in disgust. This is a true danger to democracy, which relies on participation and belief in the system. If no one will step in to do something, this trend will tear up this nation. The reason I’m running is to change this, one seat at a time.

There are two kinds of leaders: the “us vs. thems” and the consensus builders. I am running squarely against the former. My record of being a nonpartisan consensus builder is well-documented, and I want to bring that calm, fair, reasoned, research-based leadership to my city that has seen incredible turmoil in the past two years. It’s time to leave behind the negativity and rancor that has been the norm in Arroyo Grande.

As the season heats up, some of my opponents will scream “us vs. them!” at the top of their lungs. They will try to get you to vote out of fear, or to just bow out and skip voting altogether. They benefit when people disengage. That’s what they want. Stand up with me and say, “I demand better!”

Vote Caren Ray for Arroyo Grande City Council.
